The state Academic big Theatre of the opera and ballet of Alisher Navoiy deservedly is considered the leading theater of Uzbekistan, his national pride, the attractive center of musical and theatrical culture. It has the nice history rich with remarkable traditions. This history – the powerful base of that high culture and skill thanks to which the opera and ballet theater got world fame. For eight decades in theater achievements collected, the circle of means of expression was ground, experience was improved, the humanistic principles were developed and developed. 

The theater absorbed in itself all richness of national and world classical heritage and created unique samples of the Uzbek musical theatrics.
History of theater begins with the ensemble organized in the mid-twenties by the coryphaeus of national culture, the hot enthusiast of theater, the people's artist of Uzbekistan Mukhiddin Kari-Yakubov professional Concert and ethnographic.
The tireless musical public figure and the talented organizer M. Kari-Yakubov looked for and found on all republic of talented actors, cared for their professional growth, realizing the idea of creation of the academic national theater company. At that time the young creative power which subsequently became national and honored workers of culture, winners of the state awards – actors Tamara Hanum, Halima Nasyrova, Gavkhar Rakhimova, Zukhur Kabulov, Babarakhim Mirzayev, Lutfikhany of Sarymsakov, Lips Alim Kamilov, Mukarram Turgunbayeva, Roziya Karimova, Karim Zakirov, Pulatzhon Rakhimov, playwrights – Gulyam Zafari, Sharofiddin Khurshid, Kamil Yashen, composers and conductors – Mukhtar Ashrafi, Tolibzhon Sadykov entered into troupe of ensemble.
